The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania permits notaries public to charge the following fees for these six official acts:

Taking Acknowledgement

Authenticating an individual's signature on the record. Price is for one name; each additional name $2.00.

Witnessing or Attesting

a Signature

The notarial certificate states that the notary was present and saw (witnessed) the individual sign. Price is per signature.

Administering

Oath or Affirmations

A public declaration that a person making the declaration will keep a promise or perform a duty faithfully. Price is per individual taking oath or affirmation.

Certifying or Attesting a Copy or Deposition

A copy of a record or reproduction of a deposition transcript with a notary's certification that the reproduction is a complete and accurate copy of the original. Price is per certified copy.

Taking Verification

on Oath or Affirmaion

A verification on oath or affirmation is a voluntary, written sworn statement signed by an individual in the  presence of a notary. Price is for any number of signatures.

Noting a Protest of a Negotiable Instrument

A notary's written statement that, upon presentment, a negotiable instrument, like a check, money order, or traveler's check, was neither paid nor accepted. Price is per page.

Administrative Charges

clerical & travel

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania allows notaries public to charge clerical or administrative fees to cover expenses like overhead, travel, copies of documents and the like. These fees are appropriate and separate from the Commonwealth fee. A potential client must be notified of these fees in advance and has the right to decline to pay the fee and go elsewhere for notary services.
